  1. Website Mistake Alert - A Flash intro is very pretty and artistic. If you need to add a "Skip" button to anything, you don't need it.
  2. Website Mistake Alert - make sure that all of your links are working. Check regularly and update them as they change. This is crucial.
  3. Stale content hurts your SEO and assures that people will not revisit. Take time, update your site.
  4. Do not just show a label or simple image of the product, actually describe the product in detail. Give the buyer info. Show the visitor something that they don't already know. Make sure that they can have as much information as they can ever need. Maybe this is links to other websites, maybe it is more images, or maybe a short video explaining the product or its use.
  5. When creating a small business website do not hide your contact information. Make it easy to find with a phone number in plain site.

New Google Panda update has SEO in tailspin

Is Google attempting to kill off SEO?

We have to question the value of SEO in the future. If Google and other search engines are adapting algorithms to make SEO obsolete, then what is next for the Search Engine Marketing industry? The Panda 3.9 upgrade has just been installed. It is causing havoc with some websites. Is yours one of them?

We need to start paying closer attention to content and spending less time on incoming links and keywords.

Key things to check on your website today:

  1. How well has your content been proofread and spellchecked? Poorly written content devalues your website.
  2. Are the articles short and unsubstantial without giving any real information that is good to share with others? Incoming links are generated from informative content.
  3. Would you trust the information in this article if you were reading it?
  4. Is your article of the quality that you believe that it could be printed in a magazine or book? Spend more time on it. Research the subject. Take pride in your work.
  5. Does the article describe both sides of the story? Varying viewpoints are always more interesting to a reader. An editorial is only interesting if the audience agrees with the point of view. Others will move on.
